Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the department and assisting with county elections and voter registration activities.

Major Duties:

• Established and maintains files and records. • Assists persons with completing voter registration forms; verifies information; prints voter registration cards. • Receives and sends facsimiles. • Performs data entry and retrieval duties. • Answers the telephone; provides information and assistance as requested. • Assists with setting up polling locations. • Greets visitors. • Schedules appointment and meetings for the Elections and Voter Registration Director. • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Required:

• Knowledge of polling station operations. • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. • Skill in operating such office equipment as a computer, calculator, typewriter, copier, and facsimile machine. • Skill in maintaining files and records. • Skill in programming and using electronic voting machines. • Skill in dealing with the public. • Skill in oral and written communications.

Physical Demands:

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts heavy objects.

WorkEnvironment:

This work is typically performed in a professional office environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED • 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
